Covid restrictions may seem like a distant memory, but hundreds of thousands are still testing positive. In the week up to April 29, 105,331 people in the UK tested positive for Covid-19. The good news is infections and hospital admissions have dropped since a peak last month, but the effects of the virus can linger.
A newspaper editor has opened up about the unusual effect long Covid has had on her. Wales Online editor Chiara Rinaldi, 38, revealed the torrid time has had since her infection.

The mum-of-two was so tired she felt she was in a "state of otherworldliness" and would wonder if she could make it home from the school drop-off in the days before she tested positive. Initially, she thought she had a migraine.
"I went to the GP. It was hard to put into words how I was feeling - I had a weakness on one side of my body that would come and go, dizzy spells and brain fog that left me unable to remember that I started making a cup of tea,"
"I thought maybe it was a deficiency or perhaps anaemia, but the GP found a water infection. The next day I woke up with chest pains and ended up in hospital for tests but it was all clear and put down to costochondritis, when you get sharp pain from inflammation of the sternum - common after an infection."
Although her chest pain improved after taking antibiotics, Chiara's other symptoms did not clear up. She finally tested positive for Covid, which brought some relief, as she developed common Covid symptoms like a cough and a sore throat.
But the symptoms did not end there, Chiara spent a night vomiting and six weeks on she still has a mild cough and feels fatigued.
