Morrissey has suggested that Universal Music’s Capitol Records in the US may have signed him to a deal to release new album ‘Bonfire Of The Teenagers’ purely to “sabotage” the record.A new post on his official website states: “Capitol Records (Los Angeles) will not, after all, release Morrissey’s 2021 album ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers’. At the same time, Capitol Records (Los Angeles) are holding on to the album”.“Although Morrissey officially signed to Capitol Records, there has been no mention of Morrissey on Capitol’s website or on their artists roster”, it goes on.
“Morrissey has said that although he does not believe that Capitol Records in Los Angeles signed ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ in order to sabotage it, he is quickly coming around to that belief”.The real issue, he claims, is that he is simply “too diverse” for the label. On that theme, yesterday’s post shares an article on Medium by writer Fiona Dodwell making that argument.
The thinking is that everyone’s always talking about wanting a diversity of voices in music, but no one is interested in what Moz has to say.It was announced in October that Morrissey had signed a new deal with Capitol in the US to release ‘Bonfire Of The Teenagers’ this month – although it was stressed that that deal would not cover the UK.In November an update on Morrissey’s website said that the album release had been placed on hold and what would happen next was “exclusively in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles)”.Then, just before Christmas, Morrissey’s website announced that he had “voluntarily withdrawn from any association with Capitol Records (Los Angeles)”. It was also revealed that he had parted ways with his management, and that Miley Cyrus had asked for her vocals to be removed

Mark Wahlberg is taking a lot of (well-deserved, TBH) heat online right now after a very awkward award moment at Sunday night’s SAG Awards.
Just days ago, Jean Smart surprisingly revealed she had undergone a heart procedure. Days later, she won a SAG Award for her role in the HBO MAX comedy series "Hacks." Her co-stars offered insight into the 71-year-old's recovery, as she was not in attendance to accept her award. "We just love her and we're sending all our love to her and she's doing fantastic," actress Rose Abdoo told People magazine of Smart.
Marc Malkin Senior Film Awards, Events & Lifestyle Editor Jean Smart is “doing well” following a recent heart procedure. The “Hacks” star announced on Feb. 23 that she had undergone an unspecified procedure. Production on Season 3 of the HBO Max series has paused while she is on the mend. “She’s doing well,” co-star Hannah Einbinder told Variety on the red carpet at the SAG Awards. “She’s recovering. We just visited her.” Co-star Poppy Liu added, “She requested a lot of photos from all of us. We will be FaceTiming with her.”
Marc Malkin Senior Film Awards, Events & Lifestyle Editor Sounds like the sequel to “Freaky Friday” is close to being greenlit — if it hasn’t been already. While a reunion of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan hasn’t been officially announced, Curtis offered the ultimate tease when we chatted Saturday at the Producers Guild Awards. “It’s going to happen,” she said. “Without saying there’s anything officially happening, I’m looking at you in this moment and saying, ‘Of course it’s going to happen.’ It’s going to happen.” On Feb. 14, Curtis shared a photo of her and Lohan on Instagram with the caption, “It’s Friday. I’m just sayin! Freaky fingers crossed!””

He was 101. Mirisch’s death was confirmed by a statement released by the Academy on Saturday afternoon. “The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is deeply saddened to hear of Walter’s passing,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in the statement. “Walter was a true visionary, both as a producer and as an industry leader. He had a powerful impact on the film community and the Academy, serving as our President and as an Academy governor for many years. His passion for filmmaking and the Academy never wavered, and he remained a dear friend and advisor. We send our love and support to his family during this difficult time.”

Seacrest out! On Thursday, Ryan Seacrest announced that after six years, he would be stepping down as Kelly Ripa’s “Live With Kelly and Ryan” co-host. While the decision might feel sudden to fans, the 48-year-old had actually been thinking about making the change for years.
You would need a heart of stone to leave Rebecca Miller’s She Came to Me without wanting to pick up sticks and live on a tugboat, preferably one steered by Marisa Tomei. Tomei’s tugboat captain Katrina, with her softly weathered face, earthy humor and somewhat sociopathic “love” addiction, is a simply fabulous romcom heroine, if She Came to Me can be described as a romcom. And in Peter Dinklage, at his most darkly glowering as the perpetually panic-stricken, creatively blocked composer Katrina targets with her romantic zeal, she has her perfect foil. Props to Berlin Film Festival artistic director Carlo Chatrian for nailing She Comes to Me: light but pungent, it is a perfect opener.
