Millie Mackintosh has opened up about her C-section deliveries to mark International Caesarean Section Awareness Month. The star has teamed up with PICO, a wound care system which she used following both of her caesarean sections to support her recovery, to raise awareness about changing the stigma around C-section births and share her "magical" experience. "I’ve had two planned C-sections, or what I always refer to as ‘abdominal births’ and luckily, they’ve been such positive experiences," Millie said.
"I opted to have ‘natural caesareans’ which was amazing. The lights were dimmed, peaceful music was playing, and the curtain was lowered so I could see my babies be born, calmly and gently. Both were magical moments I’ll never forget.
"According to NHS data, around 33% of people who give birth, do so via C-section. There are a number of reasons why a person may have a C-section, including health related issues like high blood pressure, if the baby is in breech position or a low-lying placenta. They may be planned, or a decision that is made during labour to protect the mother and baby.
Despite having such a positive experience with her planned C-sections, Millie knows there's still a lot of stigma around this type of delivery and feels empowered to help change the narrative around C-section births. "I think there’s lots of stigma around C-sections. I always support the choice of the individual and doing whatever is right for them.
