Michael Strahan will not appear on Good Morning America again this week, as he devotes time to a personal family matter.
An ABC News spokesperson for the show said, “Michael Strahan will not be with us this week as he is dealing with some personal family matters. We appreciate everyone’s thoughts and concerns.”
Strahan has been absent from the show since last month, and Nightline co-anchor Juju Chang and ABC News Live’s Linsey Davis have filled in, joining Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, George Stephanopoulos and Ginger Zee among the hosting regulars. Strahan also has been absent from Fox NFL Sunday.
A former NFL star, Strahan joined GMA in 2016, after four years as co-host of Live! with Kelly and Michael.
Despite Strahan’s absence, GMA still topped the ratings in total viewers during the week of October 30, drawing 3.1 million versus 2.87 million for Today and 2.28 million for CBS Mornings, according to Nielsen. Today was top among audiences in the key adults 25-54 demographic with 761,000 viewers, compared to 623,000 for GMA and 477,000 for CBS Mornings.
