Melanie Lynskey says her Emmy nod is 'meaningful for a lot of reasons'

Two past winners, both considered upsets in their respective victories, are back to square off against four veteran stars looking for their first win in this category. Three of the nominees are on their last chance for their popular series but, with no one from last year mucking things up, this race looks too close to call, a real free-for-all that just might result in a major twist.

The husband-and-wife duo will continue to serve as showrunners for the mystery series alongside fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco, while also developing new projects exclusively for the network.

And as anticipation builds for the new episodes, here’s everything we know about season 2:  Season 1 starred an ensemble cast, with Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse as the adult and teenage versions of Shauna, respectively; Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown as the adult and teenage versions of Taissa; Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher as the adult and teenage versions of Natalie; as well as Christina Ricci and Sammi Hanratty as the adult and teenage versions of Misty.Other initial survivors included assistant coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger), the late coach’s two sons, Travis (Kevin Alves) and Javi (Luciano Leroux), as well as team members Jackie (Ella Purnell), Van (Liv Hewson), Lottie aka the Antler Queen (Courtney Eaton), Akliah (Keeya King), Laura (Jane Widdop) and Mari (Alexa Barajas). While Laura died trying to take off in a small prop plane early on and Jackie froze to death during the season 1 finale, fan-favorite Van survived being mauled by a wolf.

Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) is joining the second season of Showtime’s Yellowjackets as the adult Lottie Matthews.

ET has confirmed that  actress Simone Kessell has been tapped to play the adult version of plane crash survivor Lottie Matthews, whose younger version is currently played by Courtney Eaton. Eaton, who has appeared on the series since season 1, has been promoted to series regular. The news follows the announcement that Lauren Ambrose was cast as the adult version of fellow teammate and survivor Van, whose younger counterpart in season 1 was played by Liv Hewson. Hewson has also been promoted to series regular for season 2. When it comes to Lottie, the news of Kessell’s casting is not a spoiler, since it was revealed in the season 1 finale that Lottie is, in fact, alive.

Lauren Ambrose has joined the cast of Yellowjackets season two!

Yellowjackets as the adult version of Van, Showtime announced Thursday.The alum will be a series regular, confirming speculation that the character — whose fate was left unclear at the end of the first season — is indeed still alive and kicking. Actress Liv Hewson, who played the teen version of Van, has also been promoted to series regular for season 2.Filming on the new season goes into production in Vancouver later this month.Back in February, ET connected with Hewson and co-star Tawny Cypress, who plays the adult version of Taissa, about their characters' budding romance and the prospects of an adult Van joining the fray.“Taissa’s marriage seems to be in shambles,” Cypress said, referring to Taissa’s estranged wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), in the present day. “It’d be really fun to see an adult Taissa meeting up with an adult Van and where that goes and what that history is all about.”  “Poor Simone, oh my god,” Hewson added.
