We knew Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were friends, but we didn’t know that they were so close that they shared a bank account for years!
The duo revealed that they were once banking buddies while appearing on The Bill Simons Podcast earlier this week.
Matt described it as “a weird thing in retrospect” but explained how it all happened.

“It was unusual, but we needed the money for auditions,” Matt explained, with Ben adding that they were dedicated to helping each other out.
“It was like, ‘You’re not going to be alone. I’m not going to be alone. Let’s go out there and do this together,’” he recalled.
Matt said that the shared money provided a sense of security.
“As long as one of us had money we knew the power wasn’t going to get shut off,” he said. One movie – 1992′s Geronimo left him with $35,000. That gave him a sense of security that they’d be alright for at least a year.
What was the money used for? Getting to auditions was the main thing, but they were also using it to play games at the arcade or attempt to pick up beer.

Of course, the duo’s friendship is going strong to this day. They’re even sharing the screen again in another movie. Have you seen their eight best collabs yet?
