Jesse Lingard's potential loan move to Newcastle United has been questioned by a former Premier League striker.
The Manchester United midfielder has failed to make regular appearances for the Old Trafford club so far this season.
Lingard has featured 14 times, scoring two goals and grabbing one assist during that time.
News broke yesterday that the 29-year-old could be on the verge of moving to St James' Park on a temporary basis.
His contract expires at the end of this season, making Lingard a free agent come June.
Speaking on the move, former Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: "He (Lingard) should have left in the summer (2021).
"I do not know how he could have stayed there in the summer, just be a bit more realistic.
"I know that you want to back yourself to try and break into the Manchester United midfield but you have got (Bruno) Fernandes in front of you, (Paul) Pogba in front of you.
"For me he has to leave in January.
"But when you look at the teams that are looking at him, and it has come to my attention that Newcastle might want him on loan, I don't think he will go to Newcastle on loan.
"I think if he wants to go somewhere on loan, he is going to look at a West Ham. A team that is fighting at the opposite side of the table not a relegation battle.
"He will not want to go there, especially when it is on a loan deal."
