To complete this simulation, we updated the United squad with the latest contract situations and players, allowing Football Manager 2023 to then decide who Ten Hag's side could sign in the 2023 summer transfer window. We assigned a £100million budget, and these were the results.
Incomings: £174million
The simulation predicts that Ten Hag will target players to improve the core of his side, spending £174million on four different players. The most expensive arrival was Mount, with the Englishman arriving for £55million from Chelsea as Ten Hag finally got his midfielder.
Benfica defender Lucas Verissimo was the second most expensive signing, with the sought-after Brazilian joining for £41.5million. With a striker a main target for United, Lille forward Jonathan David was judged the perfect choice as the Canadian signed for £41million whilst Anthony Elanga was shipped the other way as part of the deal.
