Former right-back Gary Neville has slammed Manchester United co-chairman Avram Glazer in a social media post following the latter's visit to the United Arab Emirates to hold talks with the chairman of Dubai's Sports Council about cricket.
On Thursday, Glazer was pictured having a meeting with Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, less than 48 hours after United crashed out of the Champions League, losing to Atletico Madrid. Later, Mansoor bin Mohammed tweeted that he and Glazer had discussed the prospect of a United cricket team being launched.
He tweeted: "I met with Avram Glazer, co-chairman of Manchester United, today and discussed ways to work together to further raise Dubai's profile as a global sporting hub. We also discussed the UAE T20 Cricket league's launch in January 2023 featuring Manchester United cricket team and other teams."

However, as reported by the Manchester Evening News , United have no plans to set up their own cricket team. The idea was proposed to Glazer but the club has no intention of considering the idea.
Nevertheless, Neville has blasted Glazer for focusing on matters relating to cricket, opposed to the ongoing troubles at Old Trafford. United run the risk of missing out on the top-four this season, meaning they could be without Champions League football next season.
But despite the impending crisis, it appears, in Neville's eyes, that Glazer's priorities lie elsewhere. He tweeted: "He must have stopped off on his way to Manchester for those fans meetings they promised post ESL [European Super League]!!
"United go out of the Champions League and he heads to Dubai to discuss cricket."
