Ronaldo and partner Georgina Rodriguez released a joint statement on Monday night to share the devastating news. Both teams donned black armbands during the game in a gesture of condolence throughout Tuesday’s match.
The minute’s applause was organised by the supporters of both United and Liverpool and officially confirmed by the clubs later on. All four sides of Anfield took to their feet to clap for the entirety of the minute, accompanied by the synonymous ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ anthem from home fans.
