Manchester United 'face battle' to sign Benjamin Pavard and more transfer rumours

Italian outfit Inter Milan are 'preparing a bid' for Manchester United-linked defender Benjamin Pavard.
That is according to a report by French news outlet L'Equipe, which says that Inter will bid for the Bayern Munich ace in 'the coming hours'. United are keen to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the transfer window closing and have been heavily linked with Pavard in recent weeks.
The France international, 27, is reportedly keen to leave Bayern ahead of the transfer window slamming shut in just over a fortnight's time. Pavard can operate as either a right-back or a centre-back, meaning he would be a versatile option for the Reds.
Inter, however, are reportedly long-term admirers of the former Lille defender and are said to be readying a move for his signature. They attempted to sign him back in January but saw their efforts fail.

United, who travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday teatime, will move for a new defender if Harry Maguire leaves the club before the end of the window. His expected move to West Ham United has stalled but that is not to say that he will not seal an exit before the bell sounds at 11pm on September 1.
Pavard, who scored a stunning goal in France's 4-3 win over Argentina at the round-of-16 stage at the 2018 World Cup, joined Bayern in 2019 from Stuttgart and has made a total of 163 appearances. He has scored 12 goals and grabbed 12 assists during that time.
He made 43 appearances last term, scoring seven times.
