People can now set foot in one of Manchester’s most unique attractions for free - and visit the spot where celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Hugh Grant and Alex Chung danced the night away at the Chanel afterparty last December. Manchester’s Victoria Baths has announced the return of Welcome Wednesdays, which sees the venue open its doors to the public every Wednesday, from now until September.
It’s a chance to experience the historic Grade II*-listed building up close. Visitors are free to explore the venue at their own leisure or can join a guided tour to discover more about the baths’ history.
The baths will be open from 11am to 3pm every Wednesday until September 25. Entry is free although it’s £9 for the guided tour, which takes place at 1pm (tours are free for friends of Victoria Baths and under 18s).

There are family-friendly activities for those with kids, including the Miles of Tiles activity which is a fun way for little ones from five upwards to learn about the building - and there’s even a prize they can claim at the end. Families visiting on April 10 can take part in spring-themed activities for the Easter holidays too.
Visitors can stop by the Victoria Baths Tea Room which serves light refreshments and cream teas, making it a handy spot to meet up with friends and family. The baths even has its own gift shop, stocking bespoke products, many of them commissioned from local artists.
As well as being an important historical building, Victoria Baths still has its finger on the pulse when it comes to arts and culture. Last year it hosted the exclusive Chanel afterparty on December 7, following its Métiers d’Art show in the Northern Quarter.
