A giant ice rink has returned to Manchester for Halloween and the festive season.
The Skate Manchester rink launched on Thursday as Scare Skate, with Halloween-themed music, lighting and themed props to 'ignite the fright factor'.
It's become somewhat of a staple in Manchester’s Halloween celebrations and this year features a 'frightfully realistic' giant spider taking centre stage, wrapped in a bright white LED light web around the sparkling Christmas tree centre piece.

Fancy dress is encouraged as skaters are invited to capture those all-important photo worthy moments on the ice.
Scare Skate is open from now until October 31. After that, the ghoulish spider will go into hibernation as the festive season begins and the 'dazzling' seven-metre-tall Christmas tree will transform Cathedral Gardens into 'the ultimate winter wonderland'.
Kelly Baker, director of Managed Ice Rinks, who coordinates the event, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Scare Skate to Manchester once again as the rink opens its doors to another year of skaters. Scare Skate is the perfect activity to bring the family together this season and we are looking forward to seeing Mancunian Halloween fans descend on the rink before we transform the rink into a winter wonderland in November."
The company behind the rink, Arena Group, this week announced it would be supporting Greatest Hits Radio’s Cash for Kids campaign this Christmas.
