Manchester Airport is the second best hub in the country, according to number-crunching by a holiday firm. OVO Network used several key indicators to determine which airports were the best. These included the number of passengers, total outbound flight routes, access to accommodation, amentiies like shops and restaurants, parking costs, and access to respective city centres.
However, the analysis did not look at queue times in Security or Immigration, nor did it assess baggage handling, flight delays or cancellations. All of these issues have affected the travel industry as the country emerges from the pandemic, with their impact on passengers at Manchester Airport having been widely reported.
According to the data points, London Heathrow came out top in the UK, also taking seventh in Europe overall. Its offerings of 230 different outbound routes and a variety of restaurants and shops aided its rise to the top. Meanwhile, Manchester came second, with 'cheaper parking than Heathrow' and easier access to the city centre among its named attributes

Across Europe, Manchester was ranked 21st. It was found to have 53 'amenities' including shops and restaurants, while parking cost on average £103 a week, acccording to this analysis. There were 175 routes and 28 places to stay with 5km. Its 14km distance to Manchester helped too. Third in the UK, was London Gatwick, which offers the eighth most outbound routes in Europe. Across Europe, Gatwick was 21st on the list of best airports.
The top spot in Europe went to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, which was found to have among the cheapest parking, at just £25 for a week. There were
