A man has been rescued from the River Kelvin in Glasgow and a second remains missing.
Emergency services raced to the scene in the west end of the city at around 5.45pm on Wednesday.
Officers were responding to reports of two people in the water.
A number of ambulances and fire appliances were seen in the area along with a rescue dinghy and search helicopters.
Police sealed off Argyle Street to the public and officers have confirmed searches for the second person are continuing.
One eyewitness, who posted on X, formally Twitter, said: "Major Police activity around Glasgow's Kelvin River in the west end with Coastguard helicopter now circling around. Eldon Road closed off with fire and ambulance services also in attendance."
An witness told Glasgow Live: "There are about ten or twelve ambulances. Same for fire trucks. Helicopter spotlights are in the river next to Kelvin hall.
"I saw them when leaving the gym at around 6pm. They're still there now. Seen over 30 vehicles with sirens and lights on."
Another added: "There's been a helicopter for over an hour and constant sirens."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.45pm on Wednesday, October 11, we received report of concern for two people in the water at the River Kelvin, near to Eldon Street, Glasgow.
