Patrice Evra launched an extraordinary attack on Manchester City and Pep Guardiola this weekend, saying the manager doesn't want to recruit leaders in his squad, and players only join the club for financial reasons.
Evra, a former Premier League and Champions League winner with Manchester United, did not hide his delight when City were knocked out of Europe last week in a dramatic semi-final at Real Madrid. He posted a joke on Instagram at City's expense, and then followed it up with his controversial comments as a pundit on Amazon Prime.
In comments relayed by Marca, Evra criticised Guardiola for wanting control of his squad, resulting in a lack of leaders in the City team. "Manchester City needs leaders, but Guardiola doesn't want leaders,' the Frenchman said.

"He doesn't want personality. He's the leader. That's why when they're in trouble they don't want to. They don't have anyone on the pitch to help them.
"He chooses his teams like that, he can't train people with personality. He did it at Barcelona, but he builds his team to control everyone. When things go wrong, he always decides.'
"City have made a mistake, it's the truth. They are traumatised. They remind me of PSG: they are clubs based on money."
Turning his attentions to City players, Evra suggested that finances are the only reason a player would choose to move to the Etihad.
He said: "Real Madrid also has money, but it has a story behind it; Manchester City only has money and the players go to play there solely for that.
"Then they win trophies, of course, but a player chooses to go to Manchester City only because it offers you more."
