Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a move for Brentford left-back Aaron Hickey after receiving a setback in their pursuit of Chelsea's Ben Chilwell.
City had been linked with a move for Chilwell as they look to strengthen their full-back options in the summer. It is widely understood that Joao Cancelo is on the way out of the Etihad while Kyle Walker could be in for a reduced role next season after Pep Guardiola claimed he could not play the inverted defensive midfield role which he has favoured in recent weeks.
Chilwell was reportedly on City's radar but after signing a new contract earlier this month, he is now deemed to be off the shortlist for City. According to The Sun, Hickey is highly thought of by the Blues.

The defender joined from Bologna in the summer and despite being 20 years old he has made 20 appearances already for the Bees. It is reported that a fee in the region of £30m will be enough for City to sign the Scot.
Elsewhere, The Sun also understands that the Blues have joined the race for Napoli centre-back Min-jae Kim. Since arriving from Fenerbahce last summer, Kim has been outstanding in Serie A.
The centre-back has proven to be an astute buy and is helping the Naples club to the Serie A title. Tottenham Hotspur have been a long-term admirer of Kim and are reportedly hopeful of bringing the South Korean to North London.
However, City's success could prove to be far more tempting than going to Spurs. It is reported that the 26-year-old has a £40m release clause inserted in his contract.
