Phil Foden will go on to become Manchester City's next David Silva or Ilkay Gundogan as Rio Ferdinand feels Pep Guardiola does fully trust the England man but has so many quality players at his disposal.
The 22-year-old has found the back of the net 58 times in 208 matches for City since his debut for the club in 2017. He has since gone on to be called up for England too and has three goals in 22 caps for the Three Lions.
Despite his impressive form, Foden has not always been a guaranteed starter for Pep Guardiola's side and that remains a theme this campaign. In the Premier League alone, Foden has made only 17 starts this campaign.

He was a late substitute in City's last two victories in the top flight, the 4-1 victory over Arsenal and the 2-1 triumph over the weekend against Fulham at Craven Cottage. He appears to be part of a group of players who Guardiola is content to rotate.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes there is a select group of players at City which comprise Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Rodri and John Stones who are ever-presents in the team. Ferdinand believes Foden and Bernardo Silva are similar in the sense they can fill multiple roles for Guardiola's side.
Ferdinand feels that in time, Foden will become a mainstay in the City team and fill the role that Gundogan and Silva have in the past. But he also raised questions as to why England are not building the side around Foden in the same way Spain now seem to be doing with the likes of Barcelona duo Gavi and Pedri.
"Yeah [Guardiola does fully trust him] but I just think he's got great players in his squad," Ferdinand told Vibe with Five.
