Manchester City have apparently spoken to the representatives of Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini with Pep Guardiola said to be an admirer of the centre-back.
The 19-year-old is a regular for his side and has already clocked up 65 appearances during his young career. Calciomercato claims City face competition from Juventus for the teenager, who has seven caps for Italy, one of which came against England in Tuesday’s Euro 2024 qualifying defeat.
The defender has spoken to both City and also Bayern Munich, according to TuttoMercatoWeb. It says Scalvini was one alternative Guardiola was looking at if Josko Gvardiol escaped their grasp in the summer.

There looks to be a battle for the youngster this summer, although a purchase would not come cheap with his contract running until 2027. Atalanta are holding out for €50million (£44m) for their player after rebuffing an approach from Paris Saint-Germain, the report adds. His price next summer depends on his development this season and how Italy perform at Euro 2024 if he plays and should they qualify.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato.it claims City have taken a shine to OGC Nice’s Khephren Thuram. Juventus are again being linked with the midfielder while City have apparently expressed an interest and could make a move next summer with his deal expiring in 2025. Nice have laid out that they are not prepared for the 22-year-old to leave in January. The central midfielder has the ability to play more defensively and could come in to replace Kalvin Phillips, who is being tipped to leave City.
