A man has been arrested and charged over an alleged assault inside Hampden Stadium.
Police responded to the incident on Sunday, February 26 during the Scottish League Cup Final between Rangers and Celtic. A 38-year-old man was injured as a result of the alleged incident.
Officers confirmed a 34-year-old male was arrested and charged today in connection. Meanwhile, 16 other males were arrested after disorder outside Hampden Park on the morning of the cup final.
A mass brawl erupted between Old Firm fans at 8.50am, with violence was also directed to police officers dealing with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged today after an assault on a 38-year-old man in Hampden Stadium during the Scottish League Cup Final between Rangers and Celtic."
A spokesperson for the SPFL said: “We have been working closely with Police Scotland and the Scottish FA to investigate and address the unacceptable behaviour of a small minority of supporters at the recent Viaplay Cup Final. We are encouraged by the progress which has already been made and look forward to more of the individuals involved being identified in the near future."
