Detectives investigating a terrifying machete attack have released CCTV footage of a man seen in the area before and after. Greater Manchester Police said in an appeal they want to speak with him.
A man and a woman were attacked with a machete in the Atherton area of Wigan. The woman, said police, was injured but has now been discharged from hospital and is recovery at home.
But the man suffered 'possibly life-changing injuries', said police, and remains in hospital. The attack happened at a property on Bolton Old Road, Atherton, on July 6. The man's face isn't visibly on the footage released by police, but investigators are hoping someone will recognise him.

He can be seen walking up the road before apparently entering the property then running away after the attack with the machete.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News at the time, residents spoke of a large police and emergency services presence at the scene. One resident said: "It was full of police vans and two ambulance. The police put tape on both sides of the road and there was a helicopter and everything, it was scary."
In an appeal, GMP said: "Detectives in Wigan investigating a serious assault in Atherton where a man and woman were attacked with a machete have released CCTV of a man they wish to speak to who was seen in the area in the moments before and after the incident.
"At around 9.15pm on Wednesday 6 July, we were called to a report of a man and woman with serious injuries at an address on Bolton Old Road.
"It's believed a man was armed with a machete when he went to the property and inflicted possibly life-changing injuries to the man. The woman was also injured
