Zainul Abideen, 20, was driving a Toyota Avensis he did not own nearly 40 miles per hour over the speed limit last November, when he lost control and collided with a parked car on Parkhills Road in Bury. Abideen, of Price Road, Bury, appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court earlier this week after pleading guilty to two previous counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, one count of driving without licence, and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Witnesses said Abideen appeared "dazed and confused," but emerged from the car himself and ran away.
Pictures from the scene show the wreckage, which firefighters used specialist equipment to pull the boy out of. He was later taken to hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma and remained for four months. He is still receiving outpatient treatment in the community.
