MAJOR Scottish motor dealer Macklin Motors has won the Toyota franchise in the west of Scotland from the beginning of April.
And that’s when the first of four showrooms featuring the immensely popular Japanese marque will open at Darnley in Glasgow.
While details have still to be unveiled, three more dealerships will be established in the coming months to cover the extensive area.
The tie-up will be Macklin Motors’ first representation of the world-renowned car maker, which is at the forefront of the electrification of the global automotive sector.
However, Macklin parent group Vertu Motors already runs Toyota outlets in England – so the retailer will be able to draw on plenty of experience.
Recruitment is under way for the new operations that will offer a full range of new and used Toyota vehicles, while motability customers will also be welcomed.
Vertu boss Robert Forrester said: “I am thrilled to announce our expansion in Scotland and the addition of Toyota to Macklin Motors. These dealerships demonstrate our confidence in both the future of the automotive retail sector and in Scotland’s economy.”
Toyota GB’s Paul Marshall added: “We are delighted to be growing our operations through Macklin Motors in this key geographic region, and look forward to developing several new exciting facilities for our customers.”
