Marks and Spencer shoppers have been snapping up an affordable perfume that smells just like a designer fragrance - but costs less than a tenth of the price. The retailer let onto the dupe on TikTok saying one of their eau de toilettes smells similar to Lancome’s popular La Vie Est Belle.
M&S Meadowhall posted a video to TikTok, which has received more than 600,000 views this week. They said: “Do you know about these dupes in M&S?”
In the clip, they compared some of their best selling scents, which start at £5, to much more expensive brands like Chanel, Paco Rabanne and YSL.

There had previously been a smaller 30ml bottle of M&S’s own-brand scent online for £5, but following the viral video, it has completely sold out.
The perfume is described as a ‘fresh, uplifting and feel-good scent’. The product listing reads: “Vibrant orange blossom mingles with floral pink pepper and intoxicating jasmine, all layered over a sweet base of patchouli, vanilla and amber musks”
While M&S say it’s a dupe of La Vie Est Belle, some shoppers have compared it to other expensive fragrances - even saying it’s ‘better’ than designer brands .
Ooban said: “I first encountered this perfume as a mini sample in the beauty gift bag and loved it so much that I bought a 100ml bottle. It smells better than many of the very expensive perfumes I have bought at duty-free airport shops and I'll be using it permanently now as my signature perfume.”

Glenn’s video, with more than 2.9 million views and 778,000 likes, fetched a shower of glowing comments from online audiences, writing, “Naahhh…I really like this” and “Our generation plays all day.” Nearly all of the 25,000 comments featured a string of laughing emojis.
