Ofcom has revealed they've received nearly 3,000 complaints across episodes that aired the Movie Night and Pie challenge. According to the government watchdog, 2,481 people complained over what took place on Sunday 17 July – which aired scenes from Movie Night. They listed the reasoning as being "related to alleged misogynistic behaviour by some of the male contestants". The following day, on 18 July, viewers saw the contestants take part in the Snog Marry Pie challenge.
This episode elicited a further 413 complaints due to the "alleged bullying and misogynistic behaviour from some of the male contestants". Both Friday 15 July and Sunday's episodes saw the Islanders gather around the garden with popcorn as they watched each other in various situations both before and in Casa Amor. Dami Hope, 26, came under fire after it was revealed he had a three-way kiss with Summer Botwe, 22, and Mills, 23.
After Summer shared the full extent of Dami's actions to Indiyah Polack, the Irish star branded her "fake" – leaving her in tears the following morning. Meanwhile, scenes of Gemma Owen, 19, appearing to have a "flirty chat" with Billy Brown, 23, left fishmonger Luca Bish, also 23, fuming. "If you wanna flirt then I'll flirt, get me a bombshell in here now," he declared before interrogating Gemma the following day over her actions.
