Love Island’s Malin: 'My daughter finally gives my life purpose'

Love Island star Malin Andersson has admitted her daughter Xaya has given her renewed purpose after battling the “lowest points” in her life. Malin, 30, who appeared on season two of the ITV dating show in 2016, shares 18-month-old Xaya with her ex-boyfriend Jared.The pair got together in 2021, but split just five weeks after their daughter's arrival. While co-parenting comes with its struggles, Malin has described motherhood as “hard but so rewarding”.
She told us: "Xaya is so funny and cheeky – she’s very switched on. But it’s hard doing it on my own and coping with the lack of sleep. If I had a partner, we could take it in turns and work as a team.
I’m finding co-parenting a bit difficult. “But being a mum is so rewarding. It’s a love like no other.
Before, I felt like I was walking through life with no purpose. "Now, Xaya has given me a reason to wake up in the morning. She makes me want to push myself and has completely given my life meaning again.” Malin has been open about the difficulties she's faced in the past.
In 2017, the star lost her beloved mother, Consy, to cancer.Two years later, her daughter, named after her late mum, died after being born sevens weeks prematurely.The following year, Malin bravely revealed her ex-boyfriend and Consy's father, Tom Kemp, had abused her throughout their relationship. Malin and Tom were together from January 2018 to March 2019. He was later given a 10-month prison sentence by Aylesbury Crown Court after admitting actual bodily harm.
