Some of the ex-Islanders due to appear on spin-off show Love Island Games quit before the show even began after being told they were "not guaranteed airtime" despite quarantining for weeks on end. The new Maya Jama-fronted show, which was filmed in Fiji earlier this year, launched in the US on 1 November, with a number of former Love Island stars from the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany and Sweden all competing against each other to take home a $100,000 prize.
Representing the UK is Curtis Pritchard, Megan Barton-Hanson, Jack Fowler, Georgia Steel, Liberty Poole, Mike Boateng, Eyal Booker, Toby Aromolaran, and Scott van-der-Sluis. However, it has now been revealed some Islanders quit the show before the cameras even started rolling due to the "chaotic" quarantining process.
All contestants had to take part in the process, which saw them put into quarantine for around "two to three weeks", yet this did not guarantee them airtime. One Love Island Games star has described the process as "f***cking hell" and another said they'd never experienced anything "more organised and chaotic" in their life.
Contestants were also informed that filming wouldn't begin for several weeks after being quarantining for numerous days, and that being involved in the process did not mean they would definitely be included on the show. This reportedly led to several Islanders opting to drop out of the spin-off show and jet back home, with one contestant saying it wasn't worth "waiting around for weeks on weeks for a bit of airtime," according to SoDramatic! One Islander recalled: "The rooms were nice.
However, we just weren’t allowed to leave.
They’d take you out once a day for a walk, swim or gym, that’s it. "Some will still be in the hotels
