Love Island fans were in stitches after Ikenna Ekwonna didn’t know what a raisin was. The baffling revelation occurred on the series’ first instalment of Unseen Bits, which features several games, conversations and funny moments that don’t make the main show. The boys were sitting around the firepit talking about grafting, as Luca asked them what their best chat up lines were.
He claimed his had “never failed”, asking them: “What do you think about raisins?” He repeated: “Do you like raisins? No? How do you feel about a date though?” While the line didn’t go down too well, with real estate agent Andrew, 27, deeming it "so cringe", it was Ikenna’s response that baffled viewers. “I don’t get it?” he questioned. “What’s a raisin?” Irish microbiologist Dami, 26, was also confused: “Yeah, because you’re not going to give a raisin on a date.” Ikenna asked again: “But what’s a raisin?” Luca tried explaining to him how raisins and dates are similar, hence the jokey chat up line.
Andrew also chimed in: “Raisins and dates are like the same thing”. “The food?” Ikenna asked, clearly still very confused. Eventually Ikenna understood the line, and even went on to use it later in the episode.
“Now Ikenna asking what a raisin is,” tweeted one viewer. “This surely isn’t the same person who works for big big AstraZeneca?” Ikenna continued to baffle viewers throughout the show, with a hilarious exchange with Indiyah Pollack about the sun and moon. While sitting outside, Ikenna pointed to the sky and asked her: “Isn’t that where the sun was?” Indiyah, visibly confused by his question, explained: “The sun rises on this side, and it will set over there.” “And why would the moon be on that side?” he asked.
