Love Island fans were left fuming during Sunday night’s highly anticipated Reunion show, after a TV glitch obliterated the aspect ratio for several viewers trying to tune in to the show. The problems first started to occur at around 9:30pm, when viewers tuning in to ITV2 to watch the Islanders reunite for the first time since leaving the villa, saw that the aspect ratio had abruptly shifted to a 4:3 ratio.The jarring shift to a square screen left many fans puzzled as to the cause, while several even joked it was harkening back to the 90’s as they were left trying to watch the show in a distracting format.
“Ummm, what happened to the aspect ratio?” questioned one fan, as they tried to tune in to the Islander’s interviews with hosts Laura Whitmore and comedian Darren Harriott. “Is the 90s aspect ratio happening for anyone else?” Questioned another.
“Love Island giving us aspect ratio changes? Pack it up Christopher Nolan!!” Chimed in a third, as they likened the odd cinematic shift to the work of the renowned director. Other fans were less polite as they urged ITV to sort out the problem, with one fan even fuming that they’d been waiting all week to tune in to the show.
“ITV sort your f******g aspect ratio out I've been waiting a week for this!” raged the disgruntled fan. Not everyone was quite so offended however, with one fan cheekily commenting that it was an improvement to an otherwise dry show so far.They wrote: “This Love Island reunion is so dry ITV2 has inexplicably put it in a 4:3 aspect ratio to keep us on our toes!” While the glitch may have interrupted the enjoyment for some fans watching at home, it didn't stop the drama from unfolding on screen, as fans tuning in for the reunion were treated to everything
