In a recent heart-to-heart shared with her followers, Louise Thompson, reality TV star and proud mother to son Leo, peeled back the curtain on the unseen challenges she faces while living with an invisible illness. In a poignant Instagram post accompanied by a joyous family video of her dancing with her son on the beach, Louise shed light on the often-overlooked reality of navigating life with a chronic condition.
The seemingly carefree clip belied the internal battles Louise grapples with daily.
In her candid caption, she addressed her fellow sufferers, acknowledging the unique hurdles they face. Alongside the clip, she penned: “Here’s one for all of my followers that suffer with an invisible illness or chronic condition, “Living with an invisible illness comes with a unique set of challenges.
On the outside, everything may seem fine, but on the inside, it’s a different story.” She continued: “Let’s just say - the relationship between one’s exterior and one’s internal health can sometimes be muddling. I’m a great example of someone that may appear fit and healthy because I’m good at makeup and take good care of my appearance.
“I can easily switch gears and put on a strong front, but just because I’ve learnt to master that skill, it doesn’t take away from the pain, or more importantly the need to be listened to. Sadly I’ve faced a lot of challenges over the past couple of years because I’ve looked so ‘well’… I’m polite to my detriment and I try to smile whenever I can which I guess can be misleading? It’s hard to strike a balance.” The reality star bravely confronted the stigma associated with invisible illnesses, revealing the frustration of being pigeonholed as a "PTSD patient" while grappling with physical symptoms.
