Los Angeles County Sheriff’s executed a search warrant on the home of Supervisor Sheila Kuehl on Wednesday, in what they said was part of an ongoing corruption investigation.
But Kuehl, a critic of Sheriff Alex Villanueva, blasted the action, calling it a “sort of a bogus, non investigation.”
The Sheriff’s Department confirmed that search warrants also were executed on the home of Patti Giggans, Los Angeles County Sheriff Civilian Oversight commissioner, as well as the office of non profit she runs, Peace Over Violence, and offices at the Hall of Administration and Los Angeles Metro headquarters. The office said that the investigation was being conducted by the department’s Public Corruption Unit.
“The investigation has been shared with a federal agency and they continue to monitor,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. According to the Los Angeles Times, the warrant was signed by Superior Court Judge Craig Richman and had to do with an investigation into Peace Over Violence and how it was awarded a county Metro contract. The contract was to provide on hotline for reports of sexual harassment on public transit, according to the Times.
Media outlets were present at the time that the warrant was served, catching the moment that a deputy said at Kuehl’s green front door, “Sheriff’s Department. We have a warrant. We demand entry.”
Outside of her home, Kuehl told reporters that one of the sheriff’s deputies “presented a warrant to search the house, which has no information in it at all, signed by a judge who is a friend of a sheriffs. But this strikes me as being part of a sort of a bogus, non investigation. There is no investigation going on that would support this warrant.”
She told Fox’s Los Angeles affiliate that “the

Lily Moayeri Gorillaz used their tour stop in Los Angeles not only to play a packed show at the city’s Kia Forum but also to hold a special advance listening session for their new album, the provocatively titled “Cracker Island,” set for release on February 24, 2023. Gorillaz albums are always filled with guests, and the Damon Albarn-helmed group reeled in a grip of musical stars to join them on stage at the Forum on Friday night: Namely Beck, Tame Impala and Thundercat, who are among the features on “Cracker Island” — along with Stevie Nicks and Bad Bunny, both of whom were on tour elsewhere (more about the latter shortly). Beck, dressed like the best man at a wedding circa 1977, turned up once for “The Valley of the Pagans” from his 2020 collaboration with the group, and again for the first-ever unveiling of his song from “Cracker Island,” “Possession Island.” Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker sang alongside Albarn on the already-released single, “New Gold,” accompanied by Bootie Brown, and Thundercat smoothly slid on stage for their rendition of the album’s title track.

Michaela Zee editor “Beyond the Streets” now has a permanent address. The roving exhibit, which debuted in a Chinatown warehouse four years ago, will be displayed in a new space in Los Angeles. It’s the brainchild of Roger Gastman, a former graffiti artist whose mission is to develop cultural hubs that embrace street art. “For years, even before we opened and did the ‘Beyond the Streets’ concept, I was thinking about opening a gallery,” says Gastman, who directed “Rolling Like Thunder,” a 2021 Showtime documentary, and was consulting producer on “Exit Through the Gift Shop.” “We want to provide more opportunities, [so] it just made sense.”

Jeff Miller “Think of this less of as a show, and more like an open rehearsal,” Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo told the packed house at the tiny, iconic club Troubadour in Los Angeles on Monday night (Sept. 19), where his much-beloved band played a semi-secret, deep-cut packed set under the name Goat Punishment — no phones allowed. “We’re gonna play a lot of stuff you may not expect to hear, and we’re not going to play a bunch of stuff you probably did expect to hear.” Truth in advertising: over the course of 90 minutes, the band debuted an entire new album, “SZNZ: Winter,” due out Dec. 22, and blazed its way through fan-favorite deep cuts — including the B-side “You Gave Your Love To Me Softly” and the epic “The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn),” the latter of which had not been played since 2014.
