A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in the beating death of a Los Angeles liquor store clerk and authorities seeking three other suspects.  Steven Reyes, 68, was killed on Oct. 6 following a robbery outside Tony’s Market in the Highland Park neighborhood.

Friday's scheduled Los Angeles City Council meeting has been canceled as pressure continues to mount for two council members to resign after they were heard on a leaked audio recording making racist statements. Acting Council President Mitch O’Farrell announced the move Thursday, a day after former council member Nury Martinez resigned.

President Biden will attend a big-ticket fundraiser for House Democrats Thursday evening alongside Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in Los Angeles. The fundraiser is part of Biden’s four-day-long western U.S.

Los Angeles police released chilling surveillance video showing a man kidnapping a 14-year-old at a park in El Sereno before allegedly forcing the victim into a bathroom and sexually assaulting the teen.  Edward William Banks, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and is currently held on $1 million bail on the charge of aggravated kidnapping to commit rape.  The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said. The body of a woman was found Thursday inside a clothing donation box near Los Angeles, authorities said.  The unidentified woman climbed into the box in Santa Clarita and was reported around 10 a.m. near the intersection of Orchard Village Road and Lyons Avenue., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said, Fox Los Angeles reported.

Actors’ Equity has endorsed Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock’s re-election bid, marking the first time the union’s National Council has voted to endorse a political candidate in the state. Warnock, a Democrat, is facing Republican challenger Herschel Walker in the November 8 midterm election.
