Lorraine Kelly's 'fat-shaming' of Nigel Farage given official ruling after Ofcom complaints

After being hit with hundreds of complaints due to comments she made about Nigel Farage's appearance, Lorraine Kelly has been cleared by Ofcom. Lorraine, 64, made a few remarks about UKIP founder Nigel, 59, during his time in the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! jungle, prompting over 350 people to make official complaints to communications regulator Ofcom.
On 21 November, Lorraine received 354 complaints from TV viewers as she discussed Nigel's jungle stint with Edwina Currie, who appeared on I'm A Celeb in 2014. Lorraine shared her thoughts on Nigel's physical appearance, which saw many accuse her of 'body-shaming'.
Edwina said: "I think he’s in there because he thinks he can enhance his reputation. He’s seen as a responsible, intelligent and worthy person of some kind or other.
He’s only, what 59? He’s got plenty ahead of him if he wants to get going again." Lorraine gasped and exclaimed: "Is he?! Is he only 59? I thought he was a hell of a lot older than that.
That’s astonishing, that just shows you get the face you deserve! You really do." The TV presenter later said she was "traumatised" after seeing Nigel's bare bottom on the ITV show, causing further backlash. A spokesperson for Ofcom branded the discussion "light-hearted and not concerning." They said: "We considered complaints from viewers who objected to comments made about Nigel Farage’s physical appearance.
"In our view, the brief exchange between the host and a reporter were part of a light-hearted discussion about jungle life, and within audience expectations for this programme."
