Voters will take to the polls for the local elections on Thursday.
Elections will take place for more than 200 local authorities, including all 33 London boroughs and 34 metropolitan boroughs in England. In Greater Manchester, hundreds of candidates will be eager to win seats on the region's 10 councils.
By voting, people in Greater Manchester will be able to have a say on who they think should run their public services, including schools, libraries and bin collections. On Thursday May 5, voters in each Greater Manchester borough will be choosing at least one councillor in each ward.

But there are 'all out' elections in Bury and Rochdale with all seats up for grabs. Labour currently runs nine councils in the city-region - although no party has a majority in Stockport - while the Conservatives are in power at Bolton council.
So, what time will you be able to vote on Thursday? Opening hours for all polling stations across the country are 7am to 10pm. You won't be allowed to vote before or after these times. Voters aren't given a designated time slot, so there is no need to arrive at a specific time.
If you're registered to vote, you will have received your poll card. This tells you where you need to go to vote, which is your polling station. You don't have to take the card with you in order to vote.
