A motorist stopped by the North West Motorway Police on the M60 has been found to be more than three times over the legal drink drive limit. The man driving a Peugeot provided a breath test reading of 111, with the legal limit being just 35.
Officers say they were helped by Highways North West, who were concerned about the way the car was being driven along the M61 towards Manchester. Police then caught sight of the driver on the M60 and stopped him. Following the breathalyser test, the man was arrested and his vehicle was seized.
In a social media post put on Twitter at 12:08 on Wednesday morning, North West Motorway Police stated: "Thanks to our colleagues @HighwaysNWEST, who were concerned about the manner of driving of a Peugeot on the M61 - Vehicle stopped by ME18 on the M60 where the male driver provided a breath test reading of 111 the legal limit being 35 - Arrested and Vehicle recovered."
Charges and an appearance at court are expected to follow.
