Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp only had a one-word reaction when he learned of Manchester City's defeat to Tottenham on Saturday: 'oh.'
Klopp had seen his Liverpool side come from behind to beat Norwich at Anfield, before City kicked off shortly afterwards against Spurs.
City's subsequent defeat in injury time — moments after they thought they salvaged a draw through Riyad Mahrez's penalty — meant that Liverpool moved to within six points of City at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand.
That game in hand is on Wednesday, meaning Liverpool can move even closer to top spot with a win, and if they were to match City's results and beat the Blues at the Etihad in April, they would be level on points.
Inevitably, Klopp was asked about the City result in his pre-match press conference ahead of their Leeds game, where he expressed his mild surprise at the result but insisted his side will continue to focus on only themselves.
"The truth, I was on my way home at 2-1 Spurs then I arrived at home and didn't follow it," he said.
"I was sure City would equalise. We went out and the driver was very excited, 2-2 then 3-2, he told me Spurs had won. 'Oh!' was my reaction. Nothing has changed, really. We need to win.
"We expect that [City will win their games]. We play them once, that's one we definitely want to win. This game [Leeds], nothing has changed.
"We cannot win everything in just one game, we just try to win a very difficult Premier League game. We saw all the faces of Leeds on Sunday [against Manchester United]."
When asked about the title race in general, Klopp again deflected and reiterated that Liverpool are not thinking past their clash with Leeds this week.
He said: "I know you don't ask about the next opponent
