Bruce Springsteen has released ‘Nightshift’, a cover of the Commodores original, lifted from the singer’s forthcoming album.‘Nightshift’ first appeared on the tracklist of Commodores’ titular 1985 album, and was written as a tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson (both of whom died the year prior). For his part, Springsteen stays true to the original, carrying the soulful tune atop a supporting band of brass, strings and backing vocalists.The track is accompanied by a music video directed by longtime Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny.

Manori Ravindran International Editor New York’s South Asian International Film Festival has appointed Chayan Sarkar as its new president. A filmmaker, entrepreneur and festival director, Sarkar is also the founder of the Indian International Film Festival of Queensland in Australia. He takes over from SAIFF founder Shilen Amin, who will step down as president, but will remain a member of the festival’s board of directors. Sarkar joins SAIFF as the festival enters its 19th year as a leading film festival in the U.S. for new cinema from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, and within the Indian diaspora. In recent years, SAIFF has become increasingly influential as a platform for South Asian cinema, both in the U.S. and internationally. Fourteen of India’s submissions for the international feature film Oscar have had their North American premieres at the festival.

It marks the first new music that Glass has released since the album was released back in February, however it predates much of the material that made it onto the album – per setlist.fm, she’s been performing the song live since 2018.It’s one of Glass’ more downbeat songs, contrasting sharp trap beats and glittering Auto-Tune with the artist’s melancholic delivery and gloomy atmospherics. Like several of Glass’ releases over the past few years, ‘Lips Apart’ touches on themes of trauma, abuse and isolation.
