Phoenix have shared ‘Winter Solstice’, the latest single from their forthcoming album ‘Alpha Zulu’.‘Winter Solstice’ marks Phoenix’s first song to not be crafted collectively by the band in the studio, with frontman Thomas Mars writing the track’s stream-of-consciousness lyrics to a beat sent remotely by fellow bandmates Deck d’Arcy, Laurent Brancowitz and Christian Mazzalai.The track sees Mars sing in distorted vocals atop building synths, musing on “fine jewellery” and “girls playing hula hoop”. ‘Winter Solstice’ is accompanied by a music video, which was directed by Warren Fu.

Jimmy Eat World have shared their new single ‘Place Your Debts’ – you can listen to the track below.Self-produced by the band, the song follows on from the four-piece’s June single ‘Something Loud’ and its subsequent acoustic rearrangement, which arrived in September.‘Place Your Debts’ was written by Jimmy Eat World in collaboration with Clark Baechle (The Faint) and Denver Dalley (Desaparecidos). “The ‘debt’ you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself,” frontman Jim Adkins explained in a statement.“You buy an ending every time you start something, and the cost is determined by how closely you pay attention to your personal condition,” he added.A video for ‘Place Your Debts’, which you can watch below, has also arrived today (October 19).Directed by and starring Adkins, the clip was filmed throughout the UK, US and Europe during the band’s recent tour.“It’s a series of many, many edits of me singing to the camera,” the frontman explained.

Blink-182 has officially returned to your speakers!The band released «Edging» on Friday, marking their first new single in nearly 10 years with core members Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker all working together in the studio. The song comes just days after the iconic pop-punk trio announced that they would be reuniting for a 2023 World Tour and releasing a new album next year. «Edging» is produced by Barker, featuring his signature drumming style and production.

Bruce Springsteen has released ‘Nightshift’, a cover of the Commodores original, lifted from the singer’s forthcoming album.‘Nightshift’ first appeared on the tracklist of Commodores’ titular 1985 album, and was written as a tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson (both of whom died the year prior). For his part, Springsteen stays true to the original, carrying the soulful tune atop a supporting band of brass, strings and backing vocalists.The track is accompanied by a music video directed by longtime Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny.

Blink-182 have returned with their first song to feature Tom DeLonge in just months shy of a decade: a belting pop-punk anthem titled ‘Edging’.Despite its title (and the returning frontman’s penchant for tongue-in-cheek raciness) the song is surprisingly void of sex jokes, instead offering a self-deprecative take on the dissolution of a relationship. Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Sault, the intentionally shadowy British R&B outfit led by Little Simz/ Michael Kiwanuka/ Adele producer Inflo, are back with a new EP called “Angel” — which is actually a single 10-minute song that is more like three different songs and a spoken-word passage combined into one. While details on the release are slim (as always with this group), presumably an album is not far behind. Not surprisingly, the new release is different from virtually everything the innovative R&B group has released in the past. “Angel” starts off like a power-trio version of a Bob Marley song, with a male reggae vocalist — apparently Jamaican singer Chronixx, who is credited on the song along with Inflo and British singer Jack Penate — singing over a jazzy drumbeat and a repetitive lead guitar hook. But after three minutes, the song stops and shifts into a piano-led ballad, with Chronixx continuing on theme about Zion, but with a gorgeous soulful chorus backing him. A spoken word passage then follows, and the song concludes with what is basically a third song, a gentle acoustic song that fades out with a “Soul Rebel” chorus.
