Lil Yachty drops new song “Poland”

Back in 2016, Anderson .Paak teamed up with Knxwledge for a duo called NxWorries and delivered Yes Lawd!, a project of velvet-trimmed neo-soul rap that really helped take the edge off the first months of the Trump presidency. Since then, .Paak has become a huge pop star with Silk Sonic, his Bruno Mars soul-pop duo that won a bunch of Grammys recently, so news on the NxWorries front has been fairly slim (save for a linkup on Knxweldge’s 2020 tape 1988 called “itkanbe[sonice].”) The drought ends today, with a new track from NxWorries called “Where I Go” featuring the venerable H.E.R.

It’s actually a true-crime drama, not another tale about hot male strippers.

Nearly three months after the release of his July EP RED & WHITE, Lil Uzi Vert is back with a new solo single. “Just Wanna Rock” is a change of pace for Uzi, who trades the flamboyant trap instrumentals they usually favor for a thumping drill beat and follows suit vocally, rapping in a lower register than usual.

Fresh off taking the wock to Poland, Lil Yachty is taking his modeling talents to the University of Toronto for a new OVO apparel collection.

Where were you when you first heard Lil Yachty’s short but poignant tale of taking the Wock to Poland? I was at my desk, getting ready to head out for the evening, but God and Yachty had other plans for me, and today is no different. Exactly a week after its initial limited release on Soundcloud, on the same day as its hard opening on all major digital streaming platforms, and less than an hour before closing time at The FADER dot com, “Poland” has now received a Lyrical Lemonade visual treatment.

Tolkien poem that appeared in the original books — the song appears only on Amazon Music but a link and excerpt is below. “The musical legacy of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ brings to mind ethereal vocals carrying lyrical melodies over evocative harmonies, so it was my natural inclination to compose such a song for ‘The Rings of Power,’” said McCreary. “Based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic ‘Ring Poem’ text, I wrote the song ‘Where the Shadows Lie’ as a theme for the titular Rings of Power, for the magic of mithril, for the sinister machinations of Sauron, and for his land of Mordor.”
