Lil Baby announces third album ‘It’s Only Me’ and shares new single ‘Detox’

She was nominated for a Grammy for her sophomore album, “Being Human In Public,” and took home four Juno Awards for R&B/Soul recording of the year, best video and best new artist in 2019. Thania Garcia Lil Baby will be honored with the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at the second annual Music in Action Awards Gala, hosted by the Black Music Action Coalition and taking place Sept. 22 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The ceremony will celebrate artists, executives, businesses, entrepreneurs, activists, and companies that have utilized their platforms to effect social change over the past year, according to BMAC. Lil Baby will be honored for his contribution to racial and social justice inside and outside of the music industry. Recently, the Atlanta-born rapper hosted his third annual “Back to School Fest” at Atlanta’s West End Mall. In partnership with Goodr, the event provided over 3,000 local children with music, games, carnival rides, food, backpacks, school supplies, and haircuts. Additionally, Lil Baby worked with Atlanta restaurateur Lemont Bradley to offer 100 jobs to young adults and established the $150,000 “My Turn” scholarship program for students at his former high school. Previous recipients of this award include the Weeknd and H.E.R. who both received the award at the inaugural Music in Action Awards Gala in 2021.

A new music festival from Davido called Are We African Yet? is on its way stateside. On November 18 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Davido will perform a headlining set with music from Kizz Daniel, Wande Coal, Lojay, Pheelz, Oxlade, BNXN, Focalistic, and Victony.

BreAnna Bell FX is stepping into the standup comedy ring, with comedy specials from Kate Berlant and Byron Bowers to premiere exclusively on Hulu on Sept. 15, the network announced. “Kate Berlant: Cinnamon in the Wind” serves as the comedian’s first live solo standup special. Set in an intimate space, the “A League of Their Own” star takes on not only the audience, but also a mirrored reflection of herself in her absurdist show. As she challenges the crowd’s expectations of her comedy, Berlant analyzes her own need to perform, as well as her connection to the room. Bo Burnham directed the special, which was filmed in 2019. He’s also attached as an executive producer alongside recent Emmy winner Jerrod Carmichael (“Rothaniel”), Chris Storer (“The Bear”) and Jeff Tomsic. “Kate Berlant: Cinnamon in the Wind” is produced by Rotten Science.

The Atlanta Pride Committee (APC) has announced the official entertainment lineup for this year’s Pride festival.

Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset changed the face of rap music from the streets of Atlanta, but as 2022 developed, rumors and speculation surrounding the future of Migos as a trio continued to swirl. Things kicked off in May when Quavo and Offset shared "Hotel Lobby," a new single which conspicuously did not include Offset (the song was subtitled "Unc & Phew" – Quavo is Takeoff's uncle.) The following month, Migos dropped out of a performance at Governors Ball in New York.

BLACKPINK have confirmed North American and European tour dates for 2022. The K-pop group will hit 14 cities as part of the tour, starting on October 25 in Dallas, Texas.

Less than a month after splitting the bill with Drake on “Staying Alive,” an early August single from last week’s blockbuster DJ Khaled LP God Did, Lil Baby has returned with a new solo cut called “Detox.” The track comes with a video co-directed by the Atlanta rapper himself, with help from Ivan Berrios. The new song finds Lil Baby flowing consistently for two-and-a-half minutes, delivering a money-over-fame message atop a choir-sampling Nick Papz trap beat.

The album cover features a Mount Rushmore-style depiction of Lil Baby’s different life stages in a similar expressionist painting style that began with “My Turn.” The goats from his 2020 album cover have begun growing horns in the “It’s Only Me” cover, a not-so-subtle indication of where Lil Baby believes his rap career is heading.
