The family of a 29-year-old say they are hoping to finally get answers as to what led to his sudden death, three years on.
Liam McGenity was a talented musician with a 'bright future ahead of him' when he died March 2, 2021. He was being treated as an inpatient at St Mary's Hospital in Warrington at the time. Liam, from Widnes, had been admitted to the private mental health facility run by Elysium Healthcare following a mental health crisis - with his bed being commissioned by the NHS.
This week, after almost three years of waiting, his family will attend an inquest into his death, held at Cheshire Coroner's Court. The inquest will be heard in front of a jury, and is expected to go on for 10 days. Liam was a talented singer-songwriter, having honed his musical skills since first picking up his mum's guitar at the age of 12, CheshireLive reports.

In a statement issued ahead of the inquest this week, his family paid tribute to his life, describing Liam as "utterly hilarious". They also say they are hoping they can finally gain some answers as to what led to his tragic and untimely death.
The family statement reads: "We lost Liam on 2nd March 2021, devastatingly whilst he was an inpatient at St Mary's Mental Health Hospital.
"Liam was a 29-year-old talented musician, with such a bright future ahead of him. He was utterly hilarious, with boundless energy and a zest for life, living each day to its fullest. Spreading love and happiness with his caring, creative and confident personality.
