Lewis Capaldi has broken his social media silence with a cryptic post hinting at new music.
The West Lothian star came off social media back in January 2021 to focus on his highly anticipated second album. He wrote at the time that he'd enjoyed "the most incredible few years" and it meant "the world to have the support" of his fans.
However, now the Someone You Loved singer has returned to social media by uploading to his Instagram stories and making the same image his profile photo. The date, September 2 is teased across a purple background as well as a reference to 'TikTok' and time stamps of 10pm British Summer Time (BST), 2pm Pacific Time (PT) and 5pm Eastern Time (ET).
Lewis, 25, only recently returned to the spotlight earlier this year to perform across a slew of festivals from the Sziget Festival in Hungary, the Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, and TRNSMT where he took centre stage at Glasgow Green. Fans think his return to social media with a date in mind means new music could be coming sooner than we anticipated.
The singer admitted that, despite lockdown, he was "horribly lazy" which led to him pushing a number of scheduled shows back in the diary. During his headline set at Latitude festival, he told fans: "I just want to say now, I have no new music to play you.
"I rescheduled a lot of shows last year because I was like, ‘Guys, I need to finish my new album’. And I was supposed to do it, but I am horribly lazy."
