Laverne Cox is revealing what Kacy Duke said to her after watching her performance in Inventing Anna.
The Netflix show charts the rise and fall of Anna Sorokin, who tricked New York’s upper echelon into thinking she was a socialite before being convicted of grand larceny and attempted grand larceny in April 2019.
Laverne plays Kacy Duke in the series, a celebrity fitness expert who served as Anna‘s personal trainer and was a part of her inner circle. During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday (February 21), she revealed how involved Kacy was in the series and what the trainer said to her after watching the show.

“I got to meet Kacy,” she told Jimmy. “She trained me. I had a four-hour lunch with her where she told me her life story. She lived this incredible life. She trained everyone from Denzel Washington to Lenny Kravitz to Julianne Moore. And she’s been in the business for over 30 years.”
The Orange Is the New Black Star added, “She’s a legend, and she got roped into this crazy scheme.”
Laverne went on to say she was “so nervous” about how the personal trainer would react to her portrayal.
“I was really in so much anxiety, because I was like, ‘If Kacy hates it, this is going to be terrible.’ But she sent me the sweetest message,” she revealed. “She sent me flowers. She said: ‘Congratulations. Laverne is killing it.’”
She also said a longtime friend of Kacy‘s had tweeted at her to say that they’d known her for decades and that Laverne had “nailed it.” Check out the interview down below!
