Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said today that any city employee who refused to get vaccinated against Covid 19 by a December 18 deadline “should be prepared to lose their job.”
The deadline for Los Angeles’ mandate that all city employees be vaccinated was initially today. However, under a proposal submitted Tuesday by the city administrative officer, pending City Council approval, workers would have until December 18 to show proof of vaccination.

Most every indoor public space in Los Angeles — including movie theaters, concert venues, indoor restaurants, gyms, bars, shopping centers, large outdoor events and some city buildings — will technically nrequire proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 starting Monday, though enforcement of the new law won’t begin until Nov. 29.
“It’s troubling to continue to see a slight uptick in cases and now, obviously, no decline in our hospitalizations,” said Los Angeles County Department of Public health Director Barbara Ferrer today. “I think it’s too soon to say whether we’re in a fifth wave or not.
