Kevin Costner should’ve trusted his gut feeling!

Last year, Kevin Costner could not attend the Golden Globes where he won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his starring role in Yellowstone. While not nominated this year, he was back as a presenter, paired with America Ferrera of the most nominated movie, blockbuster Barbie.
Ferrera opened their banter by admitting what a big fan she is of Costner’s, telling him that the emotional goodbye scene in The Bodyguard between Costner and Whitney Houston set to the late singer’s rendition to “I Will Always Love You” gives her chills.
Costner returned the favor by reciting Ferrera’s now-famous monologue from Barbie, in which her character tells Margot Robbie’s Barbie, “It’s literally impossible to be a woman. You’re so beautiful you’re so smart, and kills me that you don’t think you’re good enough.”
“Did you, Kevin Costner memorize my monologue about womanhood from Barbie,” an incredulous Ferrera asked, to which the Oscar winner replied with a very unconvincing “no.”
He proceeded to speak of the speech’s “important message.”
“It always serves to remind me what’s possible in a film, just reminds me that when we take our time when we manage to get it right, when a film is working at its very best, it can be about moments you never ever forget: a look, a touch, a kiss, a speech. And you just had one of those moments.”

Greta Gerwig is sharing her thoughts on one of the jokes Jo Koy made during his hosting gig at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday (January 7).
Jo Koy has been heavily criticized following his turn as host at last night’s Golden Globes. Following Sunday night’s ceremony, The View discussed the show during the “Hot Topics” segment with Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines defending the comedian’s talents.
Once upon a time, you could attend a dozen afterparties following a Golden Globes ceremony and never leave the Beverly Hilton estate, they were all under one roof. Cities were constructed up on the actual roof or atop the parking lot.
Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Billy Crystal and Jimmy Kimmel. His opening monologue jokingly covered some of the year’s biggest movies, including a comment about the lengthy run-time of Oppenheimer, a mention of Bradley Cooper’s prosthetic nose in Maestro, and a particularly controversial summary of Barbie. Also, Koy took several opportunities to acknowledge the presence of major stars in the room, including Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro and Taylor Swift. However, he was met with cold glances when he joked: “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” referring to the singer’s recent appearances at American football games.Viewers have been reacting to the monologue on X/Twitter, detailing the generally negative reception of Koy’s jokes. One user suggested a response had been made by a “prominent director” posting: “Wowee. The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards didn’t share the wealth much, as Universal’s Oppenheimer led all films with five wins and no other pic got more than two. It was even less fair on the TV side, as a grand total of five shows claimed the 11 trophies, paced by HBO‘s now-wrapped Succession, and only three networks took home trophies.
Ryan Gosling has arrived.
A lot less boozy than the Golden Globes at its traditional best, the return of the once flatlining ceremony to broadcast TV tonight proves what every 12-step program participant knows: You got to start somewhere some day, but don’t get on Taylor Swift’s bad side.
