As Katherine Ryan juggles three children and a booming career, she is the first to admit that life can be, well, a little hectic. at times But chatting with OK!, the hilarious and outspoken Canadian-born comic explains why she is taking the time to appreciate the little moments with her brood. “I’ve realised that life is so fleeting, which has made me appreciate those little moments with my kids so much more.
Because those moments will be gone so quickly,” said the TV star Katherine shares two children, Fred, two, and Fenna, one, with her husband Bobby Kootstra, whom she married in 2019. Bobby was previously in broadcasting, but is now a proud stay-at-home dad to the kids. She is also mum to 14-year-old Violet, who she raised as a single mum for almost a decade, before meeting Bobby.
While she is clearly smitten with Bobby and embracing family life, Katherine admits that it can be tough looking back to the ‘liberating’ days of being a single mother - something she opened up about overcoming 'shame' about in 2022. Here, Katherine shares her struggles with how fast her children are growing up, details why her husband is the head chef in their house - and reveals whether more little ones are on the horizon... Hi Katherine, how are you juggling parenthood and a busy work life right now? It’s very busy, my weeks go by too fast! I have no plans ever in my life for anything, I just panic, get it done, and panic again! Luckily I’m very calm but I’m also very disorganised with the babies and work.
It’s fine though, we’re rolling with it. Are you starting to see Fred and Fenna’s personalities develop now? Yes, it’s amazing. We have really funny kids, Fred is now understanding what being ‘funny’ is.
