The Prince and Princess of Wales were seen arriving after King Charles and Queen Camilla, sparking speculation they were late.However, the royal couple was worth the wait, with Kate stunning in an Alexander McQueen dress — the same designer she wore to her wedding back in 2011.The princess also wore pearl and diamond earrings belonging to the late Princess Diana, as well as the George VI Festoon Necklace made in 1950 for the late Queen prior to her own coronation.
She completed the look with a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece.Prince William, meanwhile, wore the Ceremonial dress uniform of the Welsh Guards.William and Kate are participating in the historic event along with their kids, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. Prince George had a starring role as one of the Pages of Honor. As the heir to King Charles, 74, Prince William will also have an active role in the coronation. He will reportedly help King Charles put on the Golden Imperial Mantle, a floor-length gold cloak dating back to 1821. William is the only member of the royal family who will have a speaking role in the ceremony, as he will also carry out the Homage of Royal Blood. After his father is crowned, Prince William will kneel before his father and place his hands between the king’s and say, “I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb.
So help me God.”Kate Middleton does not have an official role in the coronation. It was reported that both King Charles and Queen Camilla will wear coronation robes, but it wasn’t clear if Kate would.
