Sometimes, you get Christmas candy, and sometimes, you get Christmas coal. And a little lump of coal has arrived at all our doorsteps today, but then again, it’s not entirely unexpected (I predicted it here).
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that filmmaker Jordan Peele’s Christmas Day 2024 film has been taken off the release calendar by Universal. This was essentially already made clear a few weeks back when Focus Features—which is under Universal, both of them owned by Comcast—announced that Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” was landing on the same day, December 25, 2024.

Jordan Peele has opened up about his next horror film, saying it could be his “favourite” of all his works so far.The director of Get Out, Us and Nope has a new film currently in development and he’s spoke about it in a new interview on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast. The director had planned to start production on his fourth film last year, and it was initially slated to be released on Christmas Day 2024. However, work was delayed by the summer of long Hollywood strikes and no new release date has yet been set.At present, there are no details about Peele’s new film, including its title, plot or cast.
Jordan Peele has come forth to tease his as-yet-untitled fourth directorial effort, previously dated for Christmas Day 2024, following its strike-imposed removal from Universal Pictures‘ release calendar.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Jordan Peele is not ready to disclose any information about his next movie, which will serve as the follow-up to his 2022 science-fiction thriller “Nope,” but he does think it could be “my favorite movie” as long as he makes it right — no pressure. Peele was supposed to already be making his fourth solo directorial effort with Universal Pictures, but the Hollywood strikes delayed the project in 2023 and filming isn’t likely to start until later this year. “This has been…obviously, it’s been an interesting year because the writer’s strike had had me in a state of listening, and that’s where I need to be,” Peele said on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast when asked about his new movie.
Despite being his most polarizing film to date, Jordan Peele’s “Nope” still a very respectable 83% on Rotten Tomatoes and more than $171 million at the worldwide box office. Sure, that latter number is almost roughly $100 million less than the grosses of “Get Out” and “Us,” but given the current theatrical climate, it’s a big win.
