Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music The Songwriters Hall of Fame has unveiled its 2024 inductees: R.E.M., Steely Dan, hip-hop and R&B legend Timbaland (hits for Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, Aaliyah and many more), and songwriters Hillary Lindsey (“Jesus Take The Wheel,” “Girl Crush,” “Million Reasons”), and Dean Pitchford (“Footloose,” “Fame,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy”). The induction ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, June 13th at its longtime home of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Additional special award honorees will be announced in the coming weeks.

K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY has expressed her plans to continue releasing music through the group.In a press release earlier this week per The Korea Times, Keena shared that she is “gearing up to share more love, hoping we can walk this path together in the future.” The rapper is currently the only remaining member of the group following a dispute between its former members and label Attrakt last year.The label previously announced in November 2023 that it plans to add new members to FIFTY FIFTY, and for the group to continue as a four-member act. Keena echoed this sentiment in her statement, saying: “Once again, I’m preparing to entertain and demonstrate my hard work with FIFTY FIFTY’s songs.”Attrakt also reportedly expressed its intention once again to search for new members for FIFTY FIFTY, adding that “this opportunity has been made possible by Keena’s return [to the agency].”The rapper had notably co-written some of the group’s past songs, including their debut single ‘Higher’ and the Korean version of their Tiktok viral hit ‘Cupid’.The girl group first debuted in November 2022 with the line-up of members Saena, Sio, Keena and Aran.

Maggie Rogers has teased the arrival of new music in a social media post this week (January 1).The clip of new music was first shared back in summer, when Rogers also confirmed that she has finished writing and recording her third album. As revealed in on Instagram, the follow-up to 2022’a ‘Surrender’ LP was laid down at Electric Lady Studios in New York.The new song snippet Rogers shared seems to be from ‘Don’t Forget Me’, a song that has appeared during several of Rogers’ live shows in 2023.The lyrics for the song read: “So close the door and change the channel/ Give me something I can handle/ A good lover, or someone that’s nice to me/ Take my money. Lost Frequencies and Bastille have shared a soaring new collaboration called ‘Head Down’ – check it out below.Lost Frequencies, aka Belgium dance artist Félix De Laet, teamed up with Bastille for the track that is an exclusive addition to the artist’s third album, ‘All Stand Together’, which was released last year.Lost Frequencies first broke through in 2014 with his global hit ‘Are You With Me’, a track that reached the Number One spot on the charts in 18 countries.A statement says the song “bring[s] together their sound that holds both the signature of Lost Frequencies melodic and heart-swelling dance music, alongside Bastille’s meticulous song-writing”. Ariana Grande has continued to tease new music by sending a package and a note to fans.The package contained a red lipstick from Grande’s beauty brand r.e.m and a photo featuring a close-up of her mouth in which she appears to be wearing a similar shade of lipstick. It was accompanied by a note reading ‘See you next year’, which also seems to have been written in lipstick.Grande went on to share more teasers for her forthcoming seventh album – the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Positions’ – in a new post on her Instagram.One photo confirmed that producer Ilya Salmanzadeh had worked on the album.
