EXCLUSIVE: Eureka Productions, the company behind ABC’s Holey Moley and Netflix’s The Mole, and John De Mol’s Talpa recently landed a U.S. version of Dutch format The Floor with Fox.
The two companies have now teamed up again on other entertainment show from The Netherlands – The Quiz With Balls.
The show is the latest format from Big Brother and The Voice creator De Mol and has already been a hit in its home country.
The Quiz With Balls pits brains against balls combining a high-stakes quiz show with a large-scale physical competition. Each episode features teams of friends, colleagues or family members competing for a big cash prize in a “battle of the balls”. Standing on a high platform over a pool, they must all work together as they face a multiple-choice quiz where each answer is allocated to a spot with a giant ball positioned way up behind it. If the correct answer is chosen, the ball rolls down and stops just before colliding with the player… if there’s a wrong answer, the massive ball mercilessly whacks them into the pool below.
The more players each team loses, the harder the questions get. But the longer they last, the higher they climb up the money ladder, until one team beats the balls and the bank to win the big cash prize.
The series, distributed internationally by Talpa, launched on De Mol-owned network SBS6 and averaged a 21.1% market share in the 20-49 demo, above slot average.
Eureka and Talpa are now taking the format to buyers in the U.S.
“The Quiz With Balls has a simple but genius format mechanic, combining the fun, excitement and scale of a big physical challenge show with the play-along and jeopardy of a high stakes quiz show,” said Chris Culvenor, Co-CEO of Eureka Productions. “We are excited

With his astonishing new experimental feature, “The Human Surge 3,” Argentine filmmaker Eduardo Williams proposes a new analogue for the sensation of modern living: It’s kind of like seeing panoramas shot with a 360-degree camera, navigated via a VR headset and then translated back to a traditional cinematic frame, completely and utterly distorting the imagery in the process.
